That’s a USB hub that the (unpictured) keyboard is plugged into. The XBox controller ports are really just USB with a different connector – there’s an adapter I built going between that hub and the first controller port.

right, ive known about the xbox usb thing for quite some time, and most people have to cobble together an adapter for a ordinary usb-to-xbox adapter. The only clean thing so far is the lil usb-to-controller adapter thingy that MS made available for phantasy star online keyboards, but that’d probably be too bulky for your needs here

Yeah. The only clever-ish thing about my cable is that it goes into a male USB-B connector so it’s easy to hook it directly to a hub without needing gender changers. This comes in handy ’cause I’ll be driving quite a few devices (keyboard, gps, usb thumbdrive).
